My life within building services began in 1994 – working for a national MEP contractor. Since then, I’ve enjoyed a wonderfully varied and multi-faceted career in design and build, cost management and design consultancy. I have always wanted to know how ‘things’ work and love nothing more than to overcome a challenge – so a career in engineering always felt like a natural fit.
A defining moment.
A project that made a real difference, was actually the first one that I designed on my own – a small hospice in Bristol. I was an apprentice engineer working for a design and build installer; after completing the design – which I was immensely proud of having designed and managed every aspect – my managing director thought it was a great idea for me to go to site to actually install it. I learnt some incredibly important lessons on buildability that I’ve heeded ever since.
An evolving discipline.
Since joining Hoare Lea in early 2015, I have worked on some fantastic projects across a broad range of sectors; however, with my background and specialism in the hotels sector, my main focus is to help lead the firm’s delivery and growth in the exciting hospitality market.
