After graduating from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology in 1996, I worked in consultant-based employment, which gave me a good grounding in both design and site-based work. I joined Hoare Lea’s London office in 1998 as I wanted to be a part of one of the top independently owned engineering practices within the UK.

Engineering human experiences.

I really enjoy the day-to-day challenge of working within our design teams to deliver workable and innovative project solutions. It’s very important to me that we continue to push the boundaries and stay at the forefront of technological and sector development. The rate of change in the industry appears to be more rapid than ever, it is important to me to be able to correctly interpret these regulations, provide robust advice to clients and design teams and develop designs to practically meet the changing industry requirements.

A defining moment.

A key point in my career was when I made the switch from a small engineering consultancy to join Hoare Lea. This move opened up many opportunities for me both in terms of the size of projects I was able to work on and the broad range of people that I am able to work with. I have been exposed to most sectors within the construction industry and am involved across a wide range of specialisms that Hoare Lea offers to clients. This has enabled me to assist in developing engineers within Hoare Lea and continue to expand my own knowledge within the industry.
