Mark Hagger
Prior to joining Hoare Lea in 1996, I had worked in building services for 13 years, gaining invaluable experience on large projects in India and Iraq, nationwide projects for retail chains, and complex pharmaceutical projects. Since making the career jump back to consultancy more than 20 years ago, I have enjoyed expanding my knowledge – from a specialised turn-key design contractor, to working with a host of varied clients and projects.
A defining moment.
Throughout my career, I have focused on maintaining a strong attention to detail, a keenness to understand fully the client’s agenda and a desire to move forward the technical merits and reputation of building services.
Engineering human experiences.
Sometimes we are quick to forget the human impact of our work as engineers. Many years ago, I was charged with overseeing the completion of a revolutionary total parenteral nutrition plant in Sweden. It wasn’t until I saw these drugs being administered first-hand, to patients who were too weak to sustain themselves, that I was reminded how much positive human impact our industry can have.
