RVG is first to commit to decarbonisation gold standard.
We’re supporting Retirement Villages Group (RVG) in creating the UK’s first net zero carbon scheme in the Integrated Retirement Communities sector.
The 196-home mixed-use development at West Byfleet, Surrey, will be the first to use UKGBC’s Net Zero Carbon Buildings Framework Definition.
In the context of a global climate emergency, this significantly exceeds the requirements of current UK planning and construction regulations and aims to set new standards for the industry.
The people factor.
Importantly, this net zero commitment is matched by a similar focus on human-centric design. RVG’s newest schemes will also be designed and constructed to meet the highest 3-star ‘Fitwel’ standard, used to measure a user’s experience of living in a new building. Its accreditation signals to employees, residents, investors, and others that wellness is prioritised within the design, development, and operations of buildings and communities.
We are working with RVG both on the West Byfleet scheme and, more broadly, to develop its sustainability strategy across the business.
