Designing the Future. Our national event goes off with a bang!

On Thursday 28th April we hosted our second national Designing the Future event.

Our guests and colleagues joined us at The Royal Institution where, together, we looked forward, exploring the possibilities of the future.

While the future holds many unknowns, having open and honest conversations enables us to explore the potential challenges that we may face.

Our Designing the Future events create a space for us to step out of the day-to-day and consider the issues shaping the years to come, as well as the opportunities that they may throw up.

The evening – which was broadcast live to our offices – kicked off with a keynote address from the BBC’s The Sky at Night presenter, space scientist Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock MBE. It featured a series of interactive lectures – and a fiery demonstration befitting of the Royal Institution’s history as a hub of experimentation and featuring hydrogen and butane balloons – followed by lively panel conversation and audience debate.

We would like to thank all our superb speakers – Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock, Laurence Johnson, Ruth Kelly Waskett, Joe Tidy, Matt Jones and Deborah Frances-White – for sharing their words and knowledge with us.

Our thanks are also extended to our guests who took part.

Please enjoy a taster of the evening.
